Hope Halloween was a blast. This November may very well be too, at least for me. I’ve decided to try NaNoWriMo again, and see how far I can get this year in one of my projects. So far, I’ve written seven pages of notes, and typed about 3621 words. So far, so good.
Anyone else participating? And if so, what’s your project about?
So, who’s participating in NaNoWriMo this year? Last year, I made it to 30,000 words. This time though my plan is just to finish a story, word count not priority. What about you?
And so, November passes and it’s time to put my fingers down for the final word count. (Excluding words handwritten in notes.)
Total words typed: 29246
Words removed from actual document: 7414
Current document: 21832
I’m disappointed that I didn’t make it to 50,000 words, but at the same time I’m proud of myself, I was almost there. Which, in retrospect, is something I can’t say about last year. How did all of you do?
Good morning Everyone!
I hope you all had a good night and slept off the last bit of the Thanksgiving craze. Anyone go Black Friday shopping? (Not me this year.)
Well, after I managed to crawl out of the warm confines of my bed, I checked the mail like I do every morning and lo and behold, a letter was waiting for me to bring it in. I didn’t recognize the handwriting off the bat, and the return address marked Norway. Who do I know in Norway? I thought as I carefully cut the side of the envelope open with a pair of Fiskars (ironically a scissor brand from the same region). Inside I found a three page letter and a little note stating that my pen-pal Keisha, who I just started writing to a couple months ago, recently had an address change from the U.K. to Norway. I’d honestly wondered if she’d ever received my response letter a few weeks back, and I’m glad to see that she did and that her response came just before the holidays. I’ll be replying back in he next couple days!
Well, what are you guys up to today? I’ll be at my computer for most of it, working on my NaNoWriMo story till my fingers cramp. (One thing that sucks about Macbooks is that they are made out of metal, so in the cold seasons it’s like typing on a block of ice.) I’ll be posting up results tomorrow, but first, how’s everyone else faring in this challenge?
Working on my NaNoWriMo story, all the while supping (yes, supping) on oreos and milk. Anyone want some?
At the risk of sounding like Dexter: tonight’s the night. Just a few more hours to go before the stroke of midnight (2 and a half on my spot of the globe.) before writers all over the place become practically married to their laptops/pens/whatever writing instruments of their choice. I myself have spent most of my free time during the month getting ready for this grand event, by brainstorming, jotting down ideas, doing research and the biggest yet: getting a new laptop since the last one kicked the bucket. Last year didn’t go as well as expected for me because of various reasons. However, this year NaNoWriMo has come yet again and I am once again presented with the chance to participate, and overall, succeed in completing a novel within the timeframe specified. How many of you will be participating? Please let me know so I can follow your progress and use you as motivation for my own work (as I hope to do for you).
I wish you all the best of luck!
PS: Happy Halloween!
Well it’s one in the morning here in the Bay Area. NaNoWriMo officially began yesterday, November 1st. How are everyone else’s projects going so far? I’ve gotten about three pages (give or take a paragraph) of a story I’m working on typed, but at the same time I think I will also keep a NaNoWriMo journal as well, that way I have a side project to work on when I’m stuck on my story or have an urge to rant about my greatness (just kidding). But in this diary I do plan to rant, on many different topics even, like subject matter, character development, etc.
I think it will be interesting to also write about the writing process in general and also other random things, maybe even answer questions from my followers and make those responses into full fledged entries. What do you guys think of that? (Of course, it all depends on the question, and it can’t be overly personal.) So yeah, let’s see where this journal goes. Also, I plan to make this journal a separate blog from my usual blog, to keep the entries all organized.
Well, happy writing everyone!
